Stuck in the same locker room together, tensions mount, ambitions are laid bare and a whole new tactical game begins. Calcutta, 1800 (or thereabouts). Two British administrators in early 19th century India encounter challenges on the field of play that threaten the entire regime.

Aviatrix at the Palestinian National Theatre

Ivo Theatre take Aviatrix to the Palestinian National Theatre, a play about the experiences of a Palestinian Man at immigration as the UK government issues a Muslim Ban. Komal plays Jess Sidhu, the immigration officer in this tense two hander.

The revolt, also known as the ‘Blue Mutiny’, erupted in Bengal in response to terrible exploitation by British Indigo planters, and also inspired the writing of one of the most devastating and effective pieces of political theatre in history. 2017 -Bombay Noir - A New Thriller

Komal Amin plays a femme fatale in a new thriller: Bombay Noir at Theatre Royal Stratford East

Set in the dying days of the British Raj this noir thriller takes us on a journey from the back streets of Bombay to the heart of the political elite.

"I like my women how I like my massala chai…. sweet and spicy with a kick….and this one kicked me hard… kol bat nahin…that’s a story for another time. Right now I have to figure out why my gun is taking aim and my finger is not the one on the trigger."

Bombay Noir creates a dark and stylish world drawing on the chiaroscuro aesthetic of classic film noir through live and digital performance to introduce us to private eyes, femme fatales, freedom fighters and the Indian underworld and a murder that could bring down the establishment.

Komal will make a guest appearance on Holby City Christmas Special 2017

Holby City, BBC's medical drama, a spin off from Casualty has been running since 1999 and Komal will make a her first appearance on this show for it's Xmas special episode.  

2017 -Aviatrix

Dreams Before Dawn Festival, Theatre de Ménilmontant, Paris - July 2017

 Aviatrix tells a story of a foreign actor who is invited to the UK to perform in a new theatre production commemorating the life of Amy Johnson. Whilst he is on board his flight the UK government puts in place a ban on citizens of certain nations from entering the UK and this actor is on the list. Defiant and disbelieving the actor attempts to perform the entire show, or at least, his version of it, from the confines of a claustrophobic detention cell. Until his captor, a security guard, discovers the script in his luggage. Bored to tears by her job she too attempts her own version of the show from the confines of her beige, uninspiring office. 

Aviatrix brings together a selection of artists whose collaboration defies geographical co-ordinates; Ensemble52, ivo theatre (UK), Quds Art Films & 9T Antiope.

How far would you go to resist oppression? What would you choose to remember, and what to forget?


It is 1932 in occupied Bengal. A young revolutionary - played by Komal Amin - prepares to storm a whites-only club in Chittagong, an act of defiance that will end in her taking her own life. The sign above the club reads No Dogs, No Indians.

Three intertwining stories explore the effects and legacy of the British in India in a powerful new play by poet and playwright Siddhartha Bose to mark the 70th anniversary of Indian independence.

2016 - Sweets & Chocolates

June - July 2016

Part of the RADA festival, Sweets & Chocolates was a story about a young Pakistani girl who dreams of a career in cricket and to travel the world.
